The Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach

The Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach™

When The Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach in Manalapan, Florida, was preparing for a sweeping renovation, the prestigious hotel returned to SAFLOK products for their attractive form and ideal function.

In 2007, 310 guestrooms received a facelift. SAFLOK locks were already on the guestroom doors, but changes in technology were needed.

“The existing SAFLOK equipment had been in service for 15 years,” says Mike Bigerton, director of engineering with hotel. “With the renovation, we installed a completely automated energy management system (EMS) that required an updated system.”

The selection of SAFLOK for the renovation was easy. “SAFLOK products are always state-of-the-art and continuously improving, ” says Bigerton. “It’s a pleasure to work with a company that has the same high standards that we have.”

SAFLOK’s System 6000™ software and Messenger wireless communication system are at the heart of the operations, seamlessly integrating with the EMS. The Messenger system works with infrared (IR) locks, enabling remote communication to and from individual locks to a centralized server.

The new SAFLOK ädesē locks (pronounced “Odyssey”) are a blend of distinctive elegance and superior locking technology. Combining IR technology, automatic dead bolt (ADB), and multi-technology card reader, the ädesē locks are sleek, with curved edges and flawless finishes – complementing the changing demands of the luxury hospitality market.

The LED access indicator is also replaced by a clean, sophisticated, illuminated keycard slot. Bigerton’s favorite features include the energy savings – with the system’s ability to turn on/off lights and control heating/cooling. “The automatic dead bolt and the ‘door ajar’ features are fantastic for guest loss prevention, too,” he says.
