Odyssey™ Awarded MASCO New Product Innovation Commendation

Troy, MI - Wednesday, August 16, 2006 - SAFLOK® Odyssey™ has been awarded the 2006 Gold New Product Commendation for the MASCO Innovation Awards in recognition of its success as a new product in the market. MASCO organizes this Innovation Awards as a yearly competition to promote and encourage its companies to strive for greater market performance.

The decision to launch Odyssey was based on the market demand for more design value to be built into the existing security and utilitarian value of the SAFLOK line. It has met wide acclaim for its five-star design and has significantly improved the design options for the luxury hotel market.

According to CSS/SAFLOK president Roger Carlson, “The launch of Odyssey presented the market with a premium choice that offered enhanced design and enriched environmental performance while still providing uncompromised security.”

The Odyssey lock was first launched in 2004 when it won the International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show (IH/MR&S) Editor’s Choice design award.

Both a utility and a design patent have been filed for the Odyssey housing. Additional design patents have been filed for the Odyssey lever – the Apogee™ lever and the Odyssey thumb-turn. The Apogee handle name has also received trademark protection.
