SAFLOK’s® Quantum™ Launched at HITEC 2006

Minneapolis, MN - Tuesday, June 20, 2006 - SAFLOK® today unveiled the Quantum™ proximity lock in conjunction with HITEC 2006.

Quantum ushers in the next generation of access control technology, introducing enhancements in both design and functionality. Unique to the industry, Quantum, is the only stand-alone sectional trim lock that enables access through the application of proximity radio frequency (RF) technology.

Quantum represents the significant leap in technology from SAFLOK’s popular MT ™and Odyssey™. The lock's technology is not only wrapped in a smaller, sleeker sectional package, it also uses non-physical contact for communications with its command credential. There is no hard contact between the lock reader and the keycard.

Quantum is also available as an insertion smart and magnetic stripe card reader. Both models are controlled by SAFLOK’s Windows-based System 6000™ front desk operating platform; and compatible with the Messenger™ wireless communication access network system.

Computerized Security Systems/SAFLOK president, Roger Carlson says, “Our R&D staff created the first functional proximity prototype several years ago, and we launched the first production model in 2005. We are competent in this technology and are poised to answer market demands.”

“The revolutionary blueprint for Quantum is an intelligent solution that responds to the needs of security managers, architects, and interior designers alike. The principal goal of every property manager is to reduce costs while optimizing the guest experience. Quantum will help property managers realize this objective,” adds Carlson.

Kerry Hirschy, senior vice president of sales comments, “Attractive design is important. But more than that, our goal has always been to give the market a product that is architecturally sound and well engineered. It cannot be argued that ergonomics and advanced design are welcome features. However, these are peripheral to the actual functionality of a lock.”

“It’s not enough to give clients an option of just handle and cover plate designs. SAFLOK was the first and only lock manufacturer to be BHMA certified (Grade 1) ANSI 156.25 (since 2002) for electrified locking devices and ANSI 156.13 for mortise locks and latches (since 1990) and other lock providers are only just now touting some of these attributes when we have for years made these available in our locks,” Hirschy concludes.

Headquartered in Troy, Michigan, SAFLOK is a division of Computerized Security Systems (CSS®). CSS has provided electronic locking solutions globally to the hospitality, multihousing, and commercial markets for more than 30 years.
