Kaba Lodging Systems Implements RoHS Procedures

Orlando, Fla. – June 26, 2007 – Kaba Lodging Systems (KLS) today officially launched its new Green program in conjunction with HITEC 2007. KLS will focus one of its three HITEC displays on its commitment to an improved environment and resource sustainability. It will display the ILCO and SAFLOK product lines that are RoHS-compliant at booth #569.

According to RoHS’ website:
The RoHS Directive stands for "the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment." This Directive bans the placing on the EU market of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB), and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.*

While the RoHS concept is still new to North America, some U.S. states such as California have begun implementing requirements similar to the RoHS directive. As ILCO and SAFLOK are among the first brands in their respective category to make RoHS-compliant products available to their market, KLS products have been RoHS-compliant since the directive was first announced on July 1, 2006.*
