Press Release
Kaba’s SAFLOK Acquisition Complete
New York, NY - November, 2006 - SAFLOK’s™
DeskLinc™ front desk operating system and the Quantum™ sectional trim
lock will be featured in the SAFLOK booth (no. 2902) at the upcoming
International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show (IH/M&RS) November 12 – 14,
2006.
Both products mark a number of significant firsts in design and
technology for the hospitality market.
Quantum™ is the first sectional trim lock in the SAFLOK product family.
It is available in two configurations: Quantum MT™ (multi-technology
insertion card reader) and Quantum RFID (radio frequency identification
proximity reader). Both versions provide robust technology yet feature
an attractive sectional trim package showcasing a minimalist design. The
Quantum RFID lock is also the only stand-alone sectional trim lock that
enables access through the application of proximity technology. Lock and
keycard use non-physical contact for communication.
Quantum™ MT™ reads smart, magstripe, and memory keycards. Both models
are operated by SAFLOK’s Windows-based System 6000™ front desk operating
system; and are compatible with the Messenger™ wireless communication
access network system. Most importantly, Quantum easily integrates with
SAFLOK’s existing System 6000™ installations.
“The revolutionary blueprint for Quantum is an intelligent solution that
responds to the needs of security managers, architects, and interior
designers alike. The principal goal of every property manager is to
reduce cost while optimizing the guest experience. Quantum will help
property managers realize this objective,” says Glenn Peacock, director
of marketing.
“Attractive design is becoming more important. We’ve recognized the
increased influence that interior designers and architects now have on
the decision making process. By offering this new lock design, we are
able to present to them a larger palette from which to choose,” Peacock
concludes.
The DeskLinc front desk operating system will also be on display. It is
the only multi-technology system to offer smart/memory card capability
as a standard feature at no up-charge. Using smart/memory card
technology DeskLinc “converts” the employee’s keycard into a device that
stores/carries and downloads information from the lock. It enables lock
audit information, staff access as well as lock error codes, to be
tagged onto the smart cards. The DeskLinc is a stand-alone system and
does not require investment in a PC.
“For limited-service properties, the ability to download information
from the keycard instead of having to visit the door means improved
levels of efficiency and ultimately reduced costs,” says Kerry Hirschy,
senior vice president of sales and marketing.
